"The cause of a 34-minute blackout at the Super Bowl remains under investigation, but public records released Monday show that Superdome officials were worried about a power outage several months before the big game. An Oct. 15 memo released by the Louisiana Stadium, Exposition District, which oversees the Superdome, says tests on the dome's electrical feeders showed they had "some decay and a chance of failure (ESPN)."
Wait, are you saying New Orleans knew that something terrible could happen, but chose to ignore it and dance in the street instead? No... it can't be.
Just kidding, anyways the NFL has announced that it will not hold this against them, and it will not affect their chances at getting another Super Bowl. Other than being a bit embarrassing, there doesn't seem like there will be much fallout. It was the highest viewed Super Bowl ever, and ended up being a very close game.
***UPDATE***
"The board later authorized spending nearly $1 million on Superdome improvements, including more than $600,000 for upgrading the dome's electrical feeder cable system (ESPN)."
Ok, guess I'm an asshole.

39 Percent Of Players Approve Of Goodell
A majority of NFL players aren't happy with the job Roger Goodell is doing as commissioner, according to a poll conducted by USA Today Sports.
The newspaper polled 300 active players from Dec. 19 to Jan. 12, and 61 percent said they disapprove of Goodell's performance. ESPN
No shocker here. Roger Goodell is the anti christ and next Hitler.
In all seriousness, what probably kills Goodell is the fact that he is so inconsistent with his fines and there is no rhyme or reason for them. For instance, Tom Brady slide kicks Ed Reed potentially hurting Reed or Brady himself (so you can file that under player safety) and he gets fine 10,000 dollars. Frank Gore wears his socks too low and he gets fined 10,500 dollars, a 500 dollar more offense for something pretty trivial. Just no sense at all. The one thing hockey had right is the Shanahan tapes, where he films hits and explains why they were fined, etc. Goodell has NONE of that, it's almost like he fines people based on how much he likes them. If he just had a system where 1st offense 25, 2nd offense 50, 3rd offense 75, an anything after that is a game suspension or something like that things would make a lot more sense than his current wheel of fine he spins.
Another reason why 61 percent of players disapprove of him is probably the way he handled the whole Bounty Scandal. I have never seen someone botch something so bad as he did. He first suspended everyone and said there was all this evidence was available, and then when Vilma called him out on it and when it was time for Goodell to put his cards on the table, the evidence was flimsy at best and everyone who had to review it obviously thought Goodell took it too far for some reason. You still have the Goodell supports like the Captain thinking he did the right thing, but those people are also fellow communists.
It's also come out that several locations are refusing to pay Roger Goodell this week in New Orleans. Can you blame them? He ruined their season because of speculation. Roger Goodell should probably be replaced soon before he kills the sport.
