Superdome Knew Blackout Could Happen? (UPDATED)

"The cause of a 34-minute blackout at the Super Bowl remains under investigation, but public records released Monday show that Superdome officials were worried about a power outage several months before the big game. An Oct. 15 memo released by the Louisiana Stadium, Exposition District, which oversees the Superdome, says tests on the dome's electrical feeders showed they had "some decay and a chance of failure (ESPN)."

Wait, are you saying New Orleans knew that something terrible could happen, but chose to ignore it and dance in the street instead? No... it can't be.

Just kidding, anyways the NFL has announced that it will not hold this against them, and it will not affect their chances at getting another Super Bowl. Other than being a bit embarrassing, there doesn't seem like there will be much fallout. It was the highest viewed Super Bowl ever, and ended up being a very close game.

***UPDATE***

"The board later authorized spending nearly $1 million on Superdome improvements, including more than $600,000 for upgrading the dome's electrical feeder cable system (ESPN)."

Ok, guess I'm an asshole.
