College To The Pro's Update

Nerlens Noel may not have lived up to the hype when he was healthy and the Wildcats certainly didn't live up to the hype, bu one thing is for sure, even with a torn ACL Noel is still the best prospect in college basketball. The 6-foot-10 freshman, led the nation with 4.4 blocks per game and averaged 10.5 points and 9.5 rebounds.

Noel also had 50 steals for Kentucky earning Southeastern Conference defensive player of the year honors, along with first team all-conference and freshman team selections.

Noel will obviously take some time to develop into the beast he can be, but he will definitely be a defensive presence in the association.

Otto Porter of Georgetown is also going pro. The 6'8 Porter averaged 16.2 points and 7.5 rebounds, both highs for Georgetown. I would love for the Celtics to get someone like him. He was born to be a great small forward in the NBA. He's long, athletic, can score at will and play great defense.

Smart move.

Nerlens Noel Out For The Year With ACL Tear

So there goes my whole Kentucky will be a sleeper until the tournament and be a shock the world team, much like Kemba Walkers UConn team.

This injury sucks and this kills any chance Kentucky has at making a run. Noel (a Brockton kid) was the number 1 recruit (maybe 2, I don't know if Shabazz was 1) coming into this year. He was supposed to be the next Anthony Davis and although he wasn't he still was a defensive monster. On the year he averaged 10 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.4 blocks. Kentucky struggled to match last year and that is due to lack of leadership and guard play. However, the good thing that will come out of this injury is that Noel could return back to Lexington to make an already stacked Kentucky recruiting class even better next year.

I am assuming Goodwin and Poythress will leave to the NBA, but having Harrow back and Nerlens on top of the recruiting class will be really good next year.

So far this hasn't been a good year for my favorite teams and ACLs, 1st Rondo and Barbosa and now Noel. AJ McCarron better watch out, his knee could be next.
