Bruins @ Capitals Preview

The Capitals are near the bottom of the NHL standings, but they have been playing better and there have been signs of life from Ovechkin (3 goals, 3 assists in last 4 games). This would seem like an easy game for the Bruins to gloss over, but this is the team that stopped the Bruins title defense, and you can bet they are going to be fired up.

The last time these two teams played, seventh-seeded Washington celebrated Joel Ward's overtime goal that gave it a 2-1 victory in Game 7 of their first-round playoff series to send the defending champions home. It's a new year, and the Bruins are near the top of the Eastern standings, actually they would be at the top most likely if they had played as many games as everyone else.

Boston is coming off a 4-3 loss to rival Montreal on Sunday that snapped its six-game winning streak, so the Bruins will not be short on motivation to crush the Capitals night. One thing to lookout for is that the Capitals are very good on the power play, trouble is there the Bruins are one of the best at stopping that.

Bruins are just a much better team, and as long as Rask doesn't have a real bad night I think they will win.

Bruins win 5-2
Player of the Game: Seguin
Game starts at 7pm
