NBA center Jason Collins on Monday announced that he's gay in a story for Sports Illustrated, becoming the first active player in a major American team sport to announce that he is gay.
Good for him, and it's about time there was an openly gay player in a pro sport. Kobe came out and supported him, and I am sure a bunch more will. He currently isn't on the team, but I don't think him coming out will hurt him, actually it's made him a ton more famous. He went from just a couple of thousand Twitter followers, and now has over 13,000, and I'm sure there will be a lot more as this story becomes more known.
