Elvis Gets Paid

The Texas Rangers and All-Star shortstop Elvis Andrus have agreed to an eight-year extension worth $120 million, a source told ESPN.com senior writer Jerry Crasnick on Monday morning.

WOW, that is a ton of money. I like Andrus a lot, but I don't think $120 million a lot. I think that Profar will be better than Andrus long term and you still could have got a ton from a trade if you dealt him. What Andrus lacks in power he picks up in defense and stolen bases.

I guess from some sort of standpoint it gives you flexibility, like if you wanted to move Kinsler to 1st, admit Mitch Moreland blows and put Profar at 2nd or if you wanted to make a run at David Price you could always offer up Jurikson for him. Which a Wil Myers/ Profar tandem will be fun to watch.

Still, I think this is a lot of money for a guy who doesn't hit for power, but what do I know, it's not like I just saw this happen with Carl Crawford or anything.
