Ryan Westmoreland Retires

Outfielder Ryan Westmoreland, a Rhode Island native once considered the top prospect in the Red Sox organization, ended his comeback from two brain surgeries and announced his retirement Wednesday.

Such a sad story. He had the first brain surgery and tried to make a comeback, but after the 2nd it just isn't possible. He has a hard time with normal day-to-day activities.  At one point in his career he was a top 25 MLB prospect, and really looked like someone who could have a bright future for the Red Sox. It just sucks that we will never get to see what he could've been. Hopefully he will be healthy enough and be able to turn the page in his life. He is just 23 years old, maybe the Red Sox can get him a job as a scout or something, as they seem to have done everything they can to take care of him.
