Patriots Sign CB Kyle Arrington to a 4-year Contract *UPDATED*

When the Patriots offseason started I wrote this about Kyle Arrington:

I would REALLY like for the Patriots to find a better corner than Kyle Arrington. It seems like every game he’s getting beat downfield or flagged for huge pass interference penalties. He had a decent season a few years ago where he made a lot of picks, but for the past two seasons he’s been a real problem.

So, of course, THIS would be the guy who manages to get a 4-year deal out of Bill Belichick. Arrington had one good year in the 2011 season where he managed 7 of his 8 career interceptions and managed to finish with the highest interception total for the year among CBs. Other than that season he's been mediocre at best. He seems to get burned for big plays and flagged for pass interference all the time and was a big part of the issues the secondary was having last season. When Talib came on board, McCourty moved to safety and Alfonzo Dennard saw more playing time Arrington often ended up the odd man out and the pass defense seemed to improve dramatically. I don't like this guy and I'm not happy that he's back no matter how low the price tag is.

UPDATE
The terms of Arrington's deal has come to light:

The Patriots and cornerback Kyle Arrington have an agreement in principle on a four-year contract, according to a league source.

Reports have the deal with a total value of $16 million, with $8.5 million in guarantees and a $6 million signing bonus.

We can give Kyle Arrington this kind of money but we can't get Wes Welker for $12 Million for 2 years? I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

I really want to drink the Kool Aid and fall back on the old "In Belichick We Trust", but I'm just so completely lost this offseason. I really do hope that Bill is still a genius and I'm just too stupid to comprehend what he's working on.
