Are The Red Sox For Real?

The Red Sox have had an incredible start to the season. They are 13-6 and in first place in the East. It is really early in the season, but it's hard not to get excited after all the shit fans have been through with this team.

The starting rotation has been unreal. They seem to never give up more than 3 runs, they are striking guys out all over the place. The bullpen has been a little shaky, but when your starter are pitching this well it makes up for a lot.

Their lineup has been scoring runs, and they really haven't even peaked yet. We still have seen Ellsbury really start rolling, Ortiz just got back, and Middlebrooks has been terrible other than random breakout games. Meaning they could actually be a hell of a lot better.

So is this team for real? Well, you could easily be negative as well. Do you really believe Lester and Buchholz are this good? Is that backend of the rotation going to kill the bullpen? Is the bullpen good? Is Ortiz, Napoli, and Ellsbury going to stay on the field?

It's really hard to say if this is sustainable, but I will tell you this they are a fun team to watch, and have a bunch of guys that at least seem to care. Sure, that's easy to say when they are winning, but just seeing guys being excited again (You see Uehara everytime he comes out of the game?) has got me excited again.

IF Buchholz and Lester are really for real this team will win the division, and it is a lot easier to add a bat later in the season than it will be a top of the rotation starter. We have said it all along that the Red Sox have been missing an ACE over the last couple years, right now they have 2. 1 ACE can get you into the playoffs, 2 can win you a World Series.
