A Woman In The NBA?

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was serious when he told the media on Tuesday that drafting Baylor women's superstar Brittney Griner in the second round or offering her a tryout is a possibility.

"If she is the best on the board, I will take her," Cuban told ESPNDallas.com. "I've thought about it. I've thought about it already. Would I do it? Right now, I'd lean toward yes, just to see if she can do it. You never know unless you give somebody a chance, and it's not like the likelihood of any late-50s draft pick has a good chance of making it."

If Cuban does this it is a publicity stunt and nothing more. Griner might be the greatest woman player of all time, but she will not be able to compete with men. They are too big, and too strong. I don't know why everyone is always in such a rush to mix sexes in sports. They tried it in hockey with a goalie, and it didn't work at all (though if there was a position in hockey that would be it), they tried a woman kicker in football (once again if there was a position that's it), and we even have woman knuckleballers. When it comes to a contact sport (yes make any NBA joke you want) it's just going going to happen. Imagine her having to lineup next to even a mediocre player like Brandon Bass. She would get her ass kicked.
