Red Sox Are Dumb If Jackie Bradley Is On Opening Day Roster
I know the kid is killing it right now. He is really the only thing exciting about the Red Sox this spring (maybe some young pitchers, but they're not ready yet), and I know the Red Sox fans need something to get excited about, but it would be beyond dumb for him to be on the roster Opening Day.
If the Red Sox were to have Bradley on the Opening day roster they would be giving up a year of team control (2019), and all they have to do to keep that control is not bring him up before April 12th. So basically you would give up a year of control for 10 days of him. That's stupid.
I know people are going to say, "who gives a shit about 2019!", but the truth is if you a run team you have to think that way. No one wins the AL East in April, and there is no reason to run a rising star to free agency any faster than they should. "But BMack, won't that piss him off?", well you got 6 years to fix that.
It's just basic math, and it would be stupid for the Red Sox to approach it any differently.
