Mavericks Trading For Brandon Jennings?

There were rumors going around yesterday that the Mavericks could be the front runner for Josh Smith. The Mavs have since spoke out and said that they have no interest in him. Now the hot rumor is they have their eyes set on Brandon Jennings. We don't have any word on what it would take to get him. I looked into the NBA trade machine and Jennings has an expiring contract of $3 million, so it wouldn't be hard to fit him in cap wise, and I would guess the Bucks would want picks for him. After trading for Monta Ellis I guess it makes Jennings expendable, although I really think they could find a better trade partner.

Obviously, this makes Collison future in Dallas less certain, but they can't trade him until this summer. The Mavericks are in need of an overhaul. Dirk is not getting any younger, they aren't anywhere close to competing for a championship, and they lost out on all the big free agents last summer. Currently Dallas is the 11 seed in the west and 5 1/2 games out of a playoff spot, while the Bucks are the 8th seed in the East.
